I'm a little perplexed at some dialog from Mama and Shooter about my play. I can't PM anyone yet (due to not enough use of the forums I think), so this will have to be a public discussion.

I've been searching the forums for the rules for Freeze Tag here and can't find any other than the 1 that pops up during play, "No racist remarks." The issue they are both bringing up is that I don't defrost people. I don't think that is an accurate statement. My defuse scores (Assist Score?) is normally middle stack of the team. I try not to get killed while I'm defusing people, which I tried to explain to Mama last night. She felt I should have stopped where I was and defrosted through the novagas. As the last player, I had just killed an enemy and was in a very bad position. Knowing that the guy I killed probably told the team, I tried to move. The only direction initially was away from them so I that I could try to circle around. Unfortunately, I was killed. The ensuing berating from Mama surprised me.

Today, Shooter started the same thing. In fact, after Candyworld, he made it a point to yell (not an exaggeration) over his mic at me. When the next map started I texted that there hadn't been an opportunity to do much defrosting. I know that sounds lame, but {ESC}Hybrid came to my defense. We had been pushed so far forward together the whole time we were communicating and wiping up the other team.

I have no doubt that I need to improve my skills in defrosting. On the rare occasion that my kills are high, my overall score is usually half the top players. I imagine this is due to the score from defrosting. Defrosting is an aspect I'm not used to but I'm getting there. What continues to puzzle me is the "if you don't play this game how I play it, you're wrong" stance. I may be new to this style of play, but I don't willingly ignore my teammates' frozen condition and I certainly help the team any way I can. If I'm continuing to be a problem, wouldn't a PM be more helpful?

Best regards,

dLUX

1.  I had a birds eye view of what was going on when you ran away from 4 of your frozen team.  The Novagas was nowhere near you.   Instead of taking 2 steps to get away from it, you ran away completely into the enemy spawn.  I was right over your head.   The next map.   You watched your team struggle to thaw your team (again, 3 people right in front of you frozen) but you were more interested in charging their spawn and it wasn't until I mentioned you weren't thawing (or "berating" as you call it) that you even attempted to thaw.   That was the 2nd round and you still had 0 thaws.  If you refuse to thaw because you're afraid that you will be killed if you take the time to do so, then this might be the wrong gametype for you- this is just as much strategy as it is brute force.  But also remember, if 2 people thaw the same person, they thaw faster.   So when you see 1 of your team struggling to thaw 3 people (like they were in Nuketown)  take the time to help them- that's more players to thaw you when you DEMAND constantly in game chat that your team thaw you (yes, you do that too).  Ask anyone, I am the first person to defend someone who's learning the game- usually the first week of their gameplay (however most often people figure it out within the first hour).   I would not say anything to you if this was a new phenomenon with you or an irregular pattern.

I understand you're still learning this game after playing here for only 2 months.   But understand this, when people see you not thawing nor making any attempt to thaw, they begin to think you are one of those selfish players (who is in it only for your own score and the rest of the team be damned).  So even when you can't thaw, people think you just don't want to be bothered with it.  We get people like this on our server who feel our server is a good substitute for regular deathmatch or free for all.  This is very much a team gametype.   If you have 1 person on your team who doesn't thaw, your chances of losing significantly increase.  We do keep stats, and people take those stats very seriously.   We're a very close family server- just because someone isn't wearing ESC tags, doesn't mean that we don't regard them as family.   We're very close with 95% of the people you see playing on that server and we have dialogue with them constantly.

Take some time to watch BADDger..  you'll notice he's almost always at the top of the scoreboard.   You'll also notice he competes for the most thaws because thawing will put you at the top every time.   I've seen players finish first place in the game but getting all thaws and NO kills.  We make the score from thawing deliberately high so that people understand that thawing in this game is what it's about.  People want BADDger on their team, and if they're on the other team, they want BADDger dead- because he keeps his team alive (which is important to win).  And then watch Sil3nc3, Zeno, or UndeadClown- you'll notice their kill/death ratios are very high, but they will also take a few seconds out of their rampage to thaw their team because they understand that they need their team to have their back.  Nobody's saying you have to play like them (please don't!  That C4 gives me nightmares)- but don't get angry when people complain that you're not being a team player.  You can take it as constructive criticism or you can take it personally and assume that people are demanding that you play like them.

These are the outdated set (you'll notice when you join our servers, there's a set of rules on the splash screen which are more updated).   I'll post this old set of rules, you'll notice #8 and #9.  Perhaps we need to define more clearly what the objective is since there's still some people who don't understand the point of the game Freezetag (or refuse to get it).    If I may quote something you said at the end of "Rocket Day" map that you said in game chat to your team 3 days ago..  "You guys need to learn how to play..."   (Yeah, stuff like that won't make you friends either...)    We do enjoy having you on the server, however don't undermine the frustration of people who have complained because they feel like their game is being sabotaged-they've seen players do just that.   Good luck, I hope this helps you understand the game better.

First, thanks for the rules.
As to the other parts . . . I'll not argue. I just don't get it. I'm definitely not like BADDger. I've noticed all that you said about his play and concur. I just don't play like that. I like objective play. I don't like TDM or FFA but there is a different rhythm to Freezetag. It is much slower and that take A LOT of adapting after playing other servers for the last 9 years or so. I will take the above details to heart and work on the play. I definitely don't want people frustrated when its supposed to be fun!
Another thing I noticed last night (I was making serious attempts to defrost) is that the counter (is it the Assists?) didn't give credit each time. How does that all work?
Thanks.

So, you notice when you thaw people you'll see +3  pop up on occasion (like when you shoot at someone and then another team member gets the kill you only get +10).   You need a full +15 to get credit for the thaw.   It does accumulate so if you only get +6 assisting the thaw with 1 person, +3 with another and another +6 with another assist it will count as 1 thaw).   It gives partial credit towards your score/ thaws.  It doesn't seem like much sitting here talking about it, but it does start to rack up, trust me.    Also (not sure if you know this), you can thaw people with RC cars (which is what most people use them for), and if you have a airborne killstreak that doesn't work or shoot in a particular map, you can use it to thaw difficult to reach people since you're stuck in it anyways.  Example the Pavelow doesn't work in most maps- but since you're stuck flying around in it you can use it to thaw your team that might be on the other side of the map and difficult to reach.. also good for giving intel on enemy locations.  :)

I thought the thaw worked something like that. I haven't noticed the +3 or +6, but figured that's what was happening.

The other info is great. It would have taken me a long time to figure out thawing from those platforms, if I ever DID figure it out. There are a few of those killstreaks that totally have me befuddled. Thanks.

If you have a question about any of the killstreaks, ask a team member.  They'll probably know... if they don't then ask an ESC member or an admin.  Trust me, if you have a killstreak that will slap the other team down like a couple of strung out hookers, your team wants you to use it (unless I'm on the other team... then it's not allowed :fight1: )    One of my favorites is the sentry nade or sentry gun..  the fun part is finding creative places to put it. LOL

 DLux,
Just to get some facts straight. I never "YELLED" at you. I do have a strong and loud voice, which comes from my loss of hearing due to not enough hearing protection while being exposed to weapon fire. Sorry, you took it as such, those that know me know that I do talk loudly. My apology. Although I did text during the game that this server plays as a team effort and that defrosting is needed and appreciated and to please join in. (May not of been the exact words but in that manner.) This was told to you because it was brought to my attention by other players during the game, so I informed you so that you would know.  We must all accept being corrected at times. I know I have to be corrected at times myself.

Thanks, Shooter. No worries. I recognize tinnitus on the range much easier than over server comms. ;-)

Hopefully, you won't have to correct me on that anymore.

And do not forget the most important rule:

Never, but never shoot JACKO, because he is very vindictive and has a special package for such cases ;)
